These timeless stories of faith have been brought to life in two beautifully animated films that you and your family can enjoy together.
Jonah and the Whale
This great adventure story is much
more than that. On its deepest level, it is a commentary on God’s
willingness to punish sinners – and on His capacity for forgiveness.
The story begins when Jonah is a mere boy.
The forces of he Assyrian
Empire have been terrorizing Jonah and his people – and Jonah quickly
grows to hate them. He vows that he will one day take his revenge. But
years later, God asks Jonah to go and preach to the Assyrians. If
Jonah convinces them to renounce their sinful ways, God will forgive
them. Jonah, of course, wants them to suffer; he wants them to feel the
Lord’s wrath. And so he foolishly tries to run away.
Needless to
say, God catches up with him. And when He does, Jonah learns a series
of important lessons about the power of God’s wrath, and the power of
His love for all mankind.
Joseph and the Coat of Many Colours
Joseph is among the
greatest of the Old Testament heroes. But unlike other Biblical heroes –
men like Samson and David – Joseph is not a warrior. His heroism is
demonstrated through simple expressions of courage and faith in God.
The
story begins when Joesph is just a boy. His brothers, we soon learn,
are jealous because Joseph is his father’s favorite. And so, they
decide to sell Joseph into slavery in Egypt.
Joseph faces many
difficulties, but his gift for interpreting dreams eventually puts him
in good standing with Egypt’s ruler. Ultimately, he finds himself in a
position of power – a position that would allow him to take revenge
against his brothers. Instead he forgives them. Thus the tale ends on a
note of hope and offers an uplifting moral message to viewers of all
ages.
